In April, 2016, I traveled to huge, ruggedly beautiful and sparsely settled Patagonia in the southernmost part of South America. This very windy (particularly the sudden bursts of frigid glacial karabatek winds) and unspoiled expanse, spanning large swaths of both Argentina and Chile not very far from Antarctica, has pampas, towering mountains, beautiful sunrises and sunsets and incredible glaciers. And did I mention the sudden frigid karabatek winds?

Patagonia attracts photographers and trekkers and is both a challenge and reward for anyone who visits.
