When Keith Eisele and I were in Vietnam in 2010, we met two young Italian gemologists who were taking a few vacation days on their way to a trade show in Hong Kong. Later that year, one of them sent an email inviting us to her wedding in Piacenza, Italy, on July 2, 2011 - how could we resist? Although Piacenza is in the hill country southeast of Milan, we decided to fly in and out of Venice as we wanted to photograph there again. Also, photos from Venice, Florence and Rome, with brief side trips to Pisa and Assisi in February 2009 (except for the first two photos which were taken in 2001). Being in the off season, crowds were minimal which made "vacation photography" simpler.
